Eric Dronet

Director & Mechanical Engineer

BBSc(Hons) Bachelor of Building Science (Honours) - New Zealand
Master’s Degree in Engineering, HVAC and Energy Management – France
CPEng/CMEngNZ

”I  am a qualified design engineer with over 15 years’ experience in both the building and shipbuilding industries in France, New Zealand and Singapore.
I know what it takes to complete a successful project, from the business case to the handover. I especially enjoy applying an ESD integrated approach, and I bring expertise in technical aspects such as energy efficiency, control systems, acceptance testing and commissioning. As a designer, I enjoy it when the frontier between different fields of engineering is blurred, and the standards of my trade are challenged. The variety of work I have been able to undertake and the environments encountered in several countries are a source of personal fulfillment.”

Originally from France, Eric moved to New Zealand and initially worked within the eCubed Wellington office. He joined eCubed Building Workshop in Auckland five years ago, a strong addition to our team, and was appointed Director in 2018.

Eric is a good communicator, team player and has a great work ethic. He sweats the small stuff to achieve an integrated approach, and makes sure the systems he designs comply with stringent and overlapping requirements.

He has worked on a wide range of award-winning projects in New Zealand, from concept to handover. His background in system design for the Shipbuilding and Defence industries provides a skillset that encourages strong conceptual and design ideas with impeccable detail, and he has blended these with his passionate appreciation of architecture.

Eric relies on his design & build experience to detail building services and produce documentation of a high standard. Projects he managed were audited by Bureau Veritas to renew ISO9001 certification of the design & build company he worked for.

He has a focus on energy efficiency solutions, application of low energy strategies, assisting in building envelope development, integrated design coordination using BIM (Building Information Modelling), acceptance testing and commissioning.

Working in France and Singapore, Eric has managed and designed mechanical services for several large scale projects.

He designed mechanical services and led building services teams for projects in New Zealand including projects such as the Mount Albert Research Centre, the B:HIVE Project at Smales Farm, and Stage 1 and 2 of the Everil Orr Retirement Village.
